ABOUT
NEVER LOVE ANOTHER
Acclaimed Australian songwriter Liz Stringer is back with her first new material since the release of her 2025 LP The Second High (★★★★ - The Guardian and The Big Issue).
Never Love Another is the second of a pair of standalone singles released through AWAL in 2026, following Sister (October 2nd), recorded with and mixed by producer/engineer Jono Steer at The Aviary Studios in Melbourne and mastered by Joe Carra at Crystal Mastering.
Never Love Another leans into Stringer’s vocal versatility and not-so-secret penchant for 90s ballads. The track features Dave Williams on drums and percussion, with Stringer providing all vocals, guitars and keys.
“Like Sister, Never Love Another is a very personal song for me. It’s an unashamed love ballad about the joy of feeling truly loved and supported, and the quiet freedom that can come with that.
The song speaks to summer in London a few years ago— to long walks around the city, conversations that stretched for hours, and the feeling of getting to know someone who would become an enormous part of my life.
I wanted to release these two songs on their own without them being part of any broader campaign or album rollout. I’m a songwriter, and was feeling less and less connected to that part of myself due to more and more of my focus was being pulled towards the many responsibilities of self-management. Releasing these songs has helped me rekindle my love for writing, for sharing my work and for letting go of the outcome.”
One of Australia’s most respected songwriters and instrumentalists, Stringer has released seven studio albums and received honours including Port Fairy Folk Festival’s 2023 Artist of the Year, Woodford Folk Festival’s 2020 Emerging Legend of Australian Song and places on the 2022 and 2025 APRA Song of the Year shortlists (Dangerous and Coming Home). The Second High debuted at #3 on the Australian Albums ARIA Chart, while 2021’s First Time Really Feeling won the 2022 AIR Award for Best Blues and Roots Album. She is also a recipient of the 2026 Creative Australia Fellowship.
Stringer continues to forge a fiercely independent path, having earned a cult-like status among her ever-growing international fanbase. She currently lives in Germany.

One drink, one look, one yes, one taste of you
We’ve been here before
The colours on the banks, that’s when I knew
There was never any doubt
I’m free, now all I see is that I wanna, wanna, wanna
Give you everything in me, all that I cover, cover, cover
I feel it changing, you are my lover, lover, lover
And now that I’m listening, I will never love another
Cool water in me, sun, wind and flow
Your heart sweet and slow
I wanna lean into you until there’s no
No longer me and no longer you
I’m free, now all I see is that I wanna, wanna, wanna
Give you everything in me, all that I cover, cover, cover
I feel it changing, you are my lover, lover, lover
And now that I’m listening, I will never love another
Starting to believe this, this kindness, still kindness
Stumble from the blindness, still willing, still willing
Willing to believe this, this softness, this softness,
Cool water
I’m free, now all I see is that I wanna, wanna, wanna
Give you everything in me, all that I cover, cover, cover
I feel it changing, you are my lover, lover, lover
And now that I’m listening, I will never love another

LYRICS
Liz Stringer © 2026
Before you slept that night you fell away
Your tiny body always young, never to decay
And now another world, one without you here
Every colour stripped blank from the atmosphere
There was something in your magic from the day that we met
And when we said we’d be forever, that’s what we meant
When you have a sister never will that bond cease to be
Whenever I was faithless you would never give up on me
Her who breathed sun into the dark
Her who trod a line between this realm and higher up
I know that you are flying, your daughter tucked under your wing
You can’t cease to exist when you’re a part of everything
There was something in your magic from the day that we met
And when we said we’d be forever, that’s what we meant
When you have a sister never will that bond cease to be
Whenever I was faithless you would never give up on me
I know that you believe it
Every word that I say
I’ll always keep you with me even when I end my days
When you got a sister never will that bond cease to be
Whenever I was faithless you would never give up on me
